I previewed this album after reading a random review about it. I'm a big fan of the growing electronic indie rock genre and bought this album based on that interest and the seemingly decent reviews I could find on it. This is my introduction to the band and I have to say that this album was the biggest surprise of the year for me. I absolutely love it; probably one of my top few favorites of 2011.

The album keeps your interest with a variety of synths layered on electronic bass and pleasant guitar riffs changing throughout each track. The lyrics meld perfectly with the layering as well - a not-too-annoying falsetto that is a nice twist. The album is high energy top to bottom and very diverse in its use of different electronic bass effects and synths that provide the listener with a great mood by the end of the record. Definitely can't wait for more from this Band.

Check it out if you like: Crystal Castles, Sleigh Bells, Hot Chip, Cut Copy

5.0 out of 5 stars Philosophical dance rock, a real treat, January 10, 2012

(Taken from my blog at http://ryanestabrooks.com)

This is a band that I had never really heard of until this year but was one of my favorite discoveries. Being a huge fan of the Flaming Lips and MGMT, this band managed to combine both styles of those respective groups and still add their own flavor to it.

The songs are varied enough to never be boring. It's drenched in synthesizers, no doubt, but there are still many flashes of omnipresent acoustic guitars, bass, and electric guitars dotting the landscape. The lyrics point towards many philosophical ideas which seem harder and harder to come by in an era of realist intentions from songwriters, wanting to simply dabble in love and relationships for an album's length. Which makes sense because many times, philosophy gets drowned out in negativity; an ocean of nihilism and rejection. In this instance, they use it to project an energy for life itself, which turns out to be invigorating.

The best part is... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars The contemplation of death and the acceptance of death is very highly generative of creative life, January 7, 2012
This review is from: Reptilians (MP3 Download)
The most fun you will ever have dancing to an album about death, the meaning of existence, and our evil alien overlords. Better still, a STRFKR live show is unmatched in its energy and vibe. If you get a chance to see them, do not pass it up.
