It works as advertised -- it keeps my boots smelling fresh, which I wear and sweat in almost every day. I've used it with both old and new shoes. It definitely works better to prevent odors from developing in new shoes, but it does reduce the odor of old shoes too.However, I would not recommend this product if you have children or pets in your home. This product feels like it's made of hollow plastic. One accident would probably smash it beyond repair. In fact, it's so lightweight that I have to prop my boots up against a wall while they're on the Shuvee, otherwise their weight would tip the unit over. Lightweight shoes or sandals do not have this problem, though. I think this product is way overpriced -- $100 retail ($90 on Amazon) for a flimsy piece of plastic and 2 germicidal UV bulbs?! My husband has just had a Novonail procedure done to eliminate the fungus in his nails and we are, now, trying to eliminate re-infection from the fungus that might be lurking in the darkness of his shoes. I like this product because ANY shoes will fit on the stand. The instructions are quite clear. This is called a "sanitizer" but I feel the UV light also disinfects the inside of the shoe where natural UV sunlight can not reach.
