They are from Seattle.Someone received a distortion pedal for Christmas last year and all the bands on the label get to use it. And it all sounds pretty damn good. There is a similar sound to the sampler except for Shirakashi by Post Harbor although 3+ minutes into the track they get their Seattle cajones back and Speaker Speaker singing Smashing Guitars which is very popish and sounds good. I bet all these guys sound great live, I bet they have better stuff and I bet you will enjoy it. Down load this free sampler onto your massive hard drive, this sampler is why we have massive hard drives. Not the best stuff ever but sounds good and at least one of these bands will be huge by 2011. 4 of 6 people found the following review helpful Ben Gibbard's kids, This review is from: Burning Building Fall 2010 Sampler for Amazon (MP3 Download) Not a bad sampler. But all the bands sound like Death Cab for Cutie. But that's not a bad thing exactly. Fairly solid alternative rock collection, By Timothy Hunter "walktowardsthelight" (The land of the free, home of the brave) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Burning Building Fall 2010 Sampler for Amazon (MP3 Download) While other free downloads tend to be disparate collections of various styles, this is a pretty uniform set of nice alternative rock tunes except for the last tune. Most of the songs have a very mellow, almost ambient-ish feeling to them with subdued vocals and a sort of wandering instrumentation. They flow together pretty seamlessly so that it can be hard to tell when one tune ends and another begins. Altogether, I think the lead-in track is the best. The last track is a somewhat forgettable but nice enough garage rock tune with kind of a power pop feel.4/5 overall, totally recommended |
