I started off waxing my board with a cheap clothes iron..it got the job done, but was slow and required a lot of wax. Since I have 2 boards to wax, it would take the better part of an afternoon. So I decided to get the SKS iron and WOW, what a difference. It takes 1/2 the time and 1/2 as much wax (which means 1/2 as much scraping!). The base on the SKS is thick and the iron holds temperature very well. Never was I waiting for it to click on and heat back up. The base is also very flat and spreads the wax very even.
If you're using a clothes iron for waxing, I recommend stepping up to a dedicated waxing iron like this one...you will wonder why you wasted time with the clothes iron.
