It irritated me so much and I still can't stand that "Umbrella" song. I don't remember what made me finally give her a shot. Maybe it was that "S&M" song. All I know is that I got her last CD " Loud" and now I'm a fan for good. I let this CD ride all the way through. I love her singing. The beats are hot. The lyrics are definitely on the raunchy, edgy side but then she gets to be sweeter on certain songs. She's the perfect blend of funk ("You Da One," "Cockiness" and "Watch N' Learn"), party ("Where Have You Been"), pop ("We Found Love" and "Roc Me Out"), and R&B ("We All Want Love" and "Drunk on Love") and soul ("Fairwell," I have the feeling that song is going to be on some military film). The beats to "Cockiness" and "Birthday Cake" get me charged in the health club... Even I enjoyed a couple of songs on here, I still think GGGB and Loud were better but I find myself listening to it more than Rated R. There's nothing absolutely groundbreaking and innovating about TTT. It's merely an album filled with dated, catchy dance pop songs. Nothing more or less. People like to exaggerate and compare TTT to Erotica in which I find it to be a masterpiece. TTT is miles and miles away from Erotica. The constant theme I get from this one is love and sex. Not to mention the song titles are a dead giveaway...we found love, drunk on love, we all want love, and fool in love. It doesn't show much musical growth for Rihanna. Nowadays, that seems to be the norm these days. No one wants an album with substance, they would rather listen to the ones make them drop it like it's hot.1. you da one (4.5/5)-i like this song alot. 2. where have you been... Some people's reviews crack me up--many people have recommended Rihanna take two years off from producing to write something new, but do they have the talent to do what she's doing? Rihanna has created something unique to her. The music she's making is selling. It's what people want! 6 albums in 6 years is freakin outstanding. I don't like a lot of the "raunch" to be honest, but I can appreciate her music, her talent, and her boldness at being who she is and not apologizing for it. I love her music-I can dance to it, I can sing along with it, I can work out to it...that's what music is all about! I loved We Found Love, You Da One, Where Have You Been, Roc Me Out, I loved them all. They're great standalone, and an awesome compilation. I honestly liked this album better than Loud, with the exception of that album's singles. If you're already a Rihanna fan, you'll love it. |
