That said, I'm looking for the least expensive acoustic guitar that is respectable and playable hoping he will enjoy learning without it being harder than it should be.I have played for many years playing everything from a very cheap jr. size no name acoustic that was almost impossible to play to a Martin acoustic which I now own along with several nice electric guitars including a Les Paul, PRS, Fender Strat, Epiphone Casino and a few others. I have also learned over the years to do my own "set up's" on guitars so I have a good understanding of what makes a guitar sound good and most importantly play or feel good. I came across two guitars that I am trying out both dreadnaught style acoustic and both Barcelona brand. The first is a D100 that retails for around $100.00. I know what you are thinking, "yea... Read more 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful  Great, inexpensive guitar, This review is from: Barcelona D200 Full-Size Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar with Mahogany Back and Sides - Cherry Sunburst I acquired a Barcelona D200 acoustic guitar and I'm very impressed with the quality of the guitarfor the small price tag they carry. For the most part the guitar seems to have a solid construction and it has a good weight to it. The wood in the fret board has a great feel and look to it, the sunburst paint job is perfect and the sound quality of the guitar is better than what you expect at this price point. The guitar sports an off white binding all around the top and back of the guitar and around the neck that makes it look a lot more expensive than it really is. Mine also has a very nice pearl-like inlay around the sound hole and around the contour of the body. There are of course some negatives like cheap tuners (although the guitar keeps itself tuned remarkably well), but you have to expect these at this price. This is a great guitar for students and hobbyists and I expect to play mine for a very long time. |
